Wolpe, David
(b. 1912)
   South African Yiddish writer. He was born in Keidan, Lithuania. He went to Palestine in 1930, but in 1936 returned to Lithuania, where he joined the army. In 1942 he was confined in the Kovno Ghetto, and later he was sent to the concentration camp at Dachau. In 1951 he settled in South Africa, where he became editor of the journal Dorem Afrike. One of the central topics of his writing is the Holocaust.
